How do I populate multiple cells in a table from the clipboard?

I am copying text from a table in a word document. I want to paste it into a table I've created in Indesign, but when I click paste, it all goes into the first cell.

Disclaimer: I'm not a Word expert.

Can you save your Word table as tab-deliminated text? If so, do that, then import the text into InDesign into a text box. Once it's there, go to table menu and select convert text to table.
