How do I place a checkmark next to a menu command?

Used to be simple. Maybe it still is.

In Excel...

Just want to check and uncheck a command when it is selected. Similar to the behavior of the "View" "Formula Bar" button.

CommandBars("MyBar").Controls("MyControl").Controls("MyCommand").State = msoButtonDown (for checked) or msoButtonUp (for unchecked)
