What magic must I put in the .htaccess file to override the default setting in the httpd.conf file that prevents directory browsing? I want to allow users to view the contents of particular directories.

I am on a shared host that will not let me edit the httpd.conf file but I can drop .htaccess files anywhere I please.

You may also want to add:

Code:
IndexOptions NameWidth=*

otherwise apache will truncate the name displayed making it hard to read.

Thanks for the confirmation - I had that before but it was not working. It sure helps to upload the file it to the server before cursing in frustration. [bigsmile]
