How do I password Protect a page 1

NEWBEEEE!!
I need to password protect a page in my site. I have no idea how this works. I would aslo like to add more passwords to give to users later on. Where are the passwords and usernames stored? Is it in a access type database or can you use a notepade type doc?
Any help would be appreciated,

and look for password protection on the top bar, then look through those. There is one that you want.

java is not to be used for password protection. I can hack any java and js based password script. You need to go with php or perl if you want it to be secure.

Did you actually read this thread?

We have already established that the first one is not secure.. It would be ok for an intranet where low safety was needed but that is it..

As I mentioned, htaccess is the best way to go..

I'm using Windows ME, P3, 512 RAM, 866MHz, and I use Internet Explorer as my default browser.

Does that help you out, so you can tell me how to use HTAccess.

Sulfericacid--Where/How did you learn hacking? I've been interested in that for a while. Can you also veiw .class files? I can't even open them on my computer.

server's operating system is not unix you CANNOT
use htaccess ...

Windows supports htaccess as much as unix..

It is just that the process is totally different on both types of server.
