How do I pass a variable from a subreport to the main report (CR7.0)

I want to pass a numerical value from a subreport to the main report. I tried using the shared numervar declaration, but I can only get the report to pass from Main to Subreport. I need the opposite. The report is using a SQL database, CR 7.0. The subreport data is not directly related to the main report.

It will go both ways, as long as the formula that captures the variable is in a section of the main report that occurs AFTER the section that containse the subreport.

Also, start both formulas with:

WhilePrintingRecords;
