I am trying to open a .pst file on a mac, I am not a MAC engineer but a W2K trying to suss it out. It all seems fairly simple other than I can't actually find and access the file.

I open Mac Outlook and then click
Apple
Control Panel
Outlook Settings
Add
Personal Folder
Add

Where do I go from here. I am faced with two bizzare options. I am sorry but I am looking at it from a PC viewpoint. I need to be able to somehow navigate through the network and point to the .pst which is on a MAC share.
I have tried to open the .pst through File open and this doesn't work.

I have sussed out how to get to the Personal Folders part but then I am lost as how to navigate to the .pst which is on a mac server share

Any help or pointer would be appreciated
Cheers

The .PST file would need to be sitting on an volume that is being shared and running Services for Macintosh. You can then map the drive to the Macs Desktop and find the file that way.

I personal would not run the .PST file over the network, I would copy it to the macs HDD. Once you have the mac connected to the PC.

Another thing I not sure that it is just a case of inporting the file either, but I maybe wrong there! If you can't fix it in 20 minutes call someone who can.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will give this a go and see - what you say makes sense.

Another question.

The user has 3 .pst files open (they spawn themselves sporadically) the properties of which all state that they are personal folders. If I go to the Tools, services Personal folders are not listed, they can be added but they are NOT currently listed as being in use and yet the properties of the 3 identical self spawning pst files all state that they are personal folders. I know where they are getting the information from but how they are connecting I do not know.

Any suggestions?
