I know how to make a web gallery in Photoshop but how do I make thumbnails ready for use in lightbox popups? Do I use the web gallery command or do I just resize each image to the size I want for the thumbnails? The directions don't tell you on the lightbox site. Anyone use this yet?

I have used it, you can see it in use here:
You have to have both images, the thumbnail and the bigger picture you want to display. It does not create the thumbs on the fly.

If you have any other questions, let me know.

I know it doesn't make the thumbs for you. I wanted to know if I had to optimize each image big and small one by one or if the web gallery feature of photoshop could be used to at least make the thumbs.

If you have photoshop, then I suggest you learn how to use the batch process options. This will allow you to parse through a directory of (say) large images and generate the thumbs for you.

Photoshop will probably drop in a bunch of meta data (unless you specifically save for the web) - so you may want to look at applying something like JStrip (a DOS windows command-line that strips all non-required data from images - again as a batch).

Cheers,
Jeff

To resize a batch of pictures and create thumbs I use WebPictureCreator (freeware) from
Although its designed to 'make web pages' you can also use it (Actions Menu) resize a batch and make thumbs. Its got drag&drop input and controllable quality of compression.

YES. You need to provide a thumbnail and a full size image to use lightbox - IF you want a small image to launch into a lareg image... you COULD launch the lightbox image from a text link also.
