How do I make Autostretch work?

How can I make a Table (actually a navigation bar created in ImageReady and brought into Dreamweaver and inserted into a two column table) STRETCH across any screen?

Making one of the columns autostretch doesn't work.

What am I doing wrong? (this is for Dreamweaver 4.0)

check all your percentages are 100% and that none of the tables are set to pixels.
If you are trying to make images streach it obviously won't work.

Sometimes, when my code just won't behave, I take it outside and make it listen to britney spears music, and when it comes back it's really well behaved. I wonder if it's suffering from post tramatic stress syndrome now..
