How do I make a movie act as a button?

I'm trying to make a small movie into a "Enter" button w/o using a button symbol. My main scene just has one frame with a movie symbol.

I've got an action layer & movie layer w/ one frame I'm trying to put an "on release" action in the action layer for the whole stage, but the "on" action isn't selectable, it's greayed out. What do I have to do to make it selectable. I know I had this problem before, but don't remember how I corrected it.

can't see any reason for not creating a button symbol. Just create a button symbol, stick a rectanlge in the HIT frame the same size as your clip and drag it onto the stage, this way the button is completely invisible.

Why don't you want to create a button symbol, when you're creating a button?
