I am trying to make a logo which has multiple outlines. I want one color outline around the individual letters and another color outline around the entire word. Any ideas on this would be greatly appreciated.

Convert your text to Paths. Copy exactly on top ( clone).
Set the copy to no fill and outline to the desired colour. With this outline selected go to 'Inset Path' and apply a minus number to set the line further outside the original text. For the outline around the whole word, CLONE the existing outline and do the 'Inset Path again. You will find that letters will start to overlap. Click on 'Union' to fix this and the result is an outline around the word. It's much easier to work with the various parts if you put each one on its own layer.
