Hi there...

We have a database and would like to lock the table so users cannot move the fields within the table view.

All of the users must have full access to read and write the data.

What is happening now is that one user moves the column to a different position on the table view and saves it. When another users comes in, they do not see the columns in the same order as they were, because the other user has saved the table view in how they used it. Even though we have said do not save the table view, they all still do it.
Is there anyone who can help us with this problem.
Many thanks and bye for now
Best regards
Brad

Brad,

I'm not aware of a way to control the default behavior of a table. You could however put the table in a form, this would allow the user to still rotate the fields as needed but when the form was opened it would always be opened with them in the original order.

crystalaid,

As Perrin mentions, there's no way to reliably control a TableView window consistently from machine to machine. Forms are intended for that purpose.

Now, having said that, you used to be able to save certain properties of TableViews to files; however, that feature has not been tested heavily in recent versions and is inconsistent between different versions of Paradox. It's possible to force certain properties of table view windows, hoever, it's much easier (and more consistent) to use forms to present your data. That's what they're there for.

Hope this helps...
