how do I load config into nvram using console port

I have ten 1720 Cisco routers to setup. These routers already have an unwanted config in them. I have written a new config but I don't want it to merge with the old one. So I want to load the new config directly into NVRAM and reboot the router. This should replace the old config with the new one without merging them.

My question is, I only have my router connected to my PC via the routers console port. How do I send the new config directly to NVRAM using only the console port.

The following is from Ciscos doc pages

----------------

upload
To send a set of ASCII strings containing the current configuration to the terminal or TFTP client, use the upload command.

UPload [TFTP ipaddress filename]

Syntax Description
TFTP
Upload the configuration across a TCP/IP network by using TFTP. The output goes to the console port if this parameter is not included.

ipaddress
TFTP server IP address.

filename
Name of the file where the router configuration is to be stored on the TFTP server. The filename field should include the directory path if the file is not in the default directory of the server.

Default
None

Command Mode
Profile mode

Usage Guidelines
The upload command (without any parameters) sends the current configuration to the console port. The upload tftp command uploads the configuration through a TFTP client.

You can use the captured file to reconfigure the router after loading new software or to configure multiple routers with the same parameters.

Set the ASCII download for 1 second so that each line is correctly processed.

Password and secret information are encrypted for security reasons. If you are reloading a configuration into a router for reconfiguration, all password and secret information is loaded.

Example
The following example uses TFTP to send the router configuration to IP address 10.1.1.1, filename 700ted.cfg:

Host> upload tftp 10.1.1.1 700ted.cfg

hello, has anyone had issues setting up a 3640 to proxy dhcp requests. I have set this up for my users so they can dial in via isdn , but im geeting an issues where the default gateway is not present and the subnet mask = 32 bit. hence no routing at all. Users are using win sooo to dial in .....any ideas...helper addr's and dhcp server has been added to the config but still the same results....

I've talked to Cisco tech support & they had me connect through the console port with Hyperterminal, once connected & enabled, erase start, when done reload, conf t, copy new config file, then right click on hyperterm connection & paste to host. Then wr mem. This has worked very well for me.
