How do I link Crystal report version to MYSQL version 5

We have a MYSQL 4 database. But we are unable to connect Crystal report version 8. We do see the tables but at the moment we select a table an error will follow. We read on the internet that it is is not possible to connect Crystal version 8 with MySQL version 4.

Therefore we decided to install MYSQL version 5 to chech if we could connect with Crystal Version 8. We are able to select the table and to have data on the report. But at the moment we select more then one table the Crystal query still runs. But when we add a field of the second table to the report an error message does appear.

And looks like it has something to do with selecting more then one table.

Anyone an idear how I might solve the issue?

Have you tried MyODBC? I'm not as familiar with Crystal, but I use Cognos Impromptu with MySQL/MyODBC and it works just fine.
