How do I KILL the numbering wizard in MSWd? 1

I have shut off the numbering function in the Bullets&Numbering pop-up window; I have "Suppressed Line Numbering" in one of the Paragraph tabs within the Style-definition function while defining user styles. However, MSWd insists on numbering a new paragraph following a CR. I want to insert the paragraph numbers _manually_!

Where else, within the app, can I effect some control over the auto-numbering function and make it disabled forever?!

Sure:

Hit Tools-Autocorrect and select the Autoformat as you type tab. My "usual" suggestion is to remove all of the options in the top and bottom sections and leave the middle section alone.

Thanks for the guidance. I have checked MSWd on my home Mac, and the 'Autoformat As You Type' page is clear top and bottom. On Monday, I will check the PC at work (where the problem was occurring) and take the stilts out from under that numbering Wizard!
