Hi,

I have done a reinstall of an old machine, I used my retail version of Vista 64 as the HP discs only came with Vista 32.

Only the crappy HP disk for office 2007 doesn't have an install or executable or any way of installing office 2007.

I have spent hours trawling MS office site, and cznnot find a download for this software anywhere, the URL on the MLK card microsoft.com/office/backup/ doesn't exist.

I've downloaded 3 copies of the office 2007 trial from the few websites still offering for download, but the install refuses to acknowledge, my legal , paid for, genuine licence key.

So how on earth do I re-install and activate MS 0ffice 2007 Professional OEM ?

It won't even let me add it to my office account under office.com/productkeycard

All help greatly appreciated.

You may be running into issues with the OEM authentication. Did any of the hardware change during this reinstall?

Nope same machine.

I think the few available 'Trial' versions of MSO2007 are not the same as OEM trial versions.

I've given up, MS clearly don't want to make it easy for me to use a legitimate licence we paid well over £100.00 for.

So I've installed an OEM version of MSO2010 on the machine instead which activated without a problem.

You just cant do the right thing for doing wrong these days with MS licencing, I wanted to use a legitimate copy with a legitimate licence only MS wouldn't let me!

Unfortunately, the MLKs used by several of the big vendors only work with their OEM software. This is certainly true of HP's OEM software.

Try the following link for some additional options:

So MS want me to contact HP and pay for a replacement disc? No chance!

Had a user do that, got sent a disc that was simply a copy of the recovery and still cound't run a repair install on their machine.

I hate recovery disc installs, they are a rip off and featureless.

If you get offered a machine that doesn't come with proper full software and OS discs, DO NOT BUY IT.

It's about time end users wised up to how they are being ripped off and held to randsom by these manufacturers and start demanding value for money and proper software discs.

OK, deep breath, rant over.... [curse]
