How do I insert a scanner image?

Quick question, hope someone can help.

I have designed a system for use by data-inputters. They input some data, then I want them to be able to click a button that will automatically launch whatever scanner package is installed.

Once scan is finished, the database will store either the image or a reference to it in a datatable.

The form that has the option is based on a recordset of the datatable that is to store the image.

I do not want the user to have to deal with any 'Save As...' options.

Unfortunately, I am unsure of what direction to go in order to acheive this task.
