When I import a logo by dragging or using command-D into InDesign from Photoshop, it comes in with a white background, as opposed to being silhouetted. How do I bring an object into InDesign as a silhouette?

What type of image is it?
JPEG or PSD,

PSDs should give you no problem if Placed in Indy once the white background has been removed. So check if the original image in Photoshop is having a transparent background.

JPEGS are flattened and the havea white background which must appear in Inddy once placed. But you can remove this background within Inddy(but not perfectly)...

Object Menu>Clipping Path>Detect edges(from Type Option)

Hopr this helps

You should create a clipping path in photoshop before bringing it in.

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4

HI, thanks for your reply! I have done this before a long time ago - someone told me a trick to doing it without having to do any of the things mentioned above - for ex. when I get a logo from a client I just use their logo (usually a jpg or eps) and don't have to take the hours to outline it or drop out the bkgr if it came to me with a transparent bkgr which they always have) - it was just a couple of keystrokes to do it and now I can't remember how!
Now if I try to import the same exact logo which came in perfectly before when I hit those keystrokes in Indy, it comes in with a white bkgr.
If you know what I am getting at, I'd be grateful to know.
Thanks.
