Hi,

I do a port scan and some port numbers do not have a description. Is there a way to identify what these ports are used for? Is there a command which will tell me what process is using the port?

Thanks
Bgdak

Try

cat /etc/services

or

grep "portnumber" /etc/services

Might give you a lead on what the port is used for. IBM Certified -- AIX 4.3 Obfuscation

Tried it. But these port #'s do not show up in the /etc/services file.

Thanks

To identify processes using ports, the best tool is lsof. Not standard with OS, but free to download.
