How do I go about creating an Add-In for Outlook?

I dont even know where to begin, because I have never done anything like this before.. but what I am looking to do is put a button on the form when you open an email to view it, and when it is clicked, it will open up the attached document (if there is one, and if it is a MS Word doc type) in a form, that i will create, and do some parsing.

I can do everything that it needs to do, but i do not know how i would go about integrating the form into outlook as a button / add-in

any tips? links? tutorials?
