How do I gix the "500 Illegal PORT command" error?

Everytime i try to upload or "put" a file on my site, using the ftp function of dreamweaver I get the error "500 Illegal PORT command". what does this mean? How do I fix it?

well ips sometimes look like this

xxx.xxx.xxx.xx:yy

where the x's would fill out the numbers to the address and yy is the port number (can be 00 - 99) -- if there is no default it resorts to the default -- which i think is 21 or 22 not sure its been like 4 or 5 years since i really did a lot of ftpeeing -- but you need to find which port you need to access to ftp

i dont know how you find out except to contact whoever you are ftpeeing to

Oh right! I see what you mean. I'm off work in about 30 minutes, so I will work on it tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion.

u can scan the IP addres/domain_name for the ports open. ;-)

Defult port for FTP is 21.
DW has a section to where u specify the port number; no need for &quot;IP.IP.IP.IPort_no&quot; combo.
