How do I get the IMS to alert me if it falls over?

Hi,

I run and Exchange 5.5 server which sits behind a proxy, occassionally the proxy will stop sending an SMTP stream, this cause the IMS to stop. The last time this happened, it was 3 hours before I noticed, and got in a bit of bother over it.

Is ther any way to get Exchange to tell me if the IMS falls over?
