We currently run unnumbered interfaces on our network. We use loopback addresses for management of our devices instead. Is there a way to get HP Openview to detect these devices properly.

I have managed to add them manually and i have been told that i can create a seed file. Will a seed file enable auto discovery of these devices or is there another method?.

With HP OV NNM 6.1 and better with HP OV NNM 6.2 I believe there will be no trouble. I think with that releases HP start to support unnumbered interfaces

Hi, if you can access those devices through snmp, and the boxes are correctly configured (specially the source interface for snmp traps = loopback address for management).
There should be no problems at all for you to manage this devices.

hope this helps,
