how do i get more codecs?

i am trying to find out how i can get more codecs than my export options currently offer. specifically, i would like to be able to encode mpeg4 avi and quicktime.
i can play these file types with other software on my system, but premiere doesn't give me the option to export with them.

1. Did you install Quicktime when you installed Premiere?
2. Under your Export settings, make sure its not set to DV or Windows Movie when you want to export to QT
3. Mpeg4 AVI is a hack of Microsoft's AVI file, no longer supported. You will have to use their Microsoft DV AVI (installed when you upgrade to Windows Media Player 9). Or download and use Divx (
