how do i get java to work in xp pro?

how do i enable java in xp pro...ive tried going tied tools internet options, advanced but see no java please help.....
 
If you have SP1 (not SP1a) installed, it is under Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, Microsoft VM. You need only enable the third box, the JIT compiler.

If you used SP1a, you need to do two steps to have a current version of Microsoft Java VM:

1. You download the original XP SP1 from MS, you can then right-click the SP1 file, and use WinZip or a similar application to "extract" to a folder.

The MS VM (build 3805) is easily found inside that extracted folder (msjavx86.exe). You can then copy and paste this file to a location of your choice.

2. You then download the update to the most recent version of MVM (build 3810) from the MS Windows Update site:

The update should be auto-detected by Windows Update, but you can influence this. You want Critical Update Q816093: Configure Windows Update site to allow you to download individual files:

You then proceed by setting the Jit active as described above.
