ACT! by Sage 2007 (9.0) Version 9.0.1.162

I have ACT e-mail set up using Microsoft Outlook as the e-mail system. I can compose a message using ACT e-mail and send it OK. It also attaches to the contact fine and records the message subject and the body. It also shows up in the contacts "history" tab, "results" column as "Email Sent".

The problem I have is that when I have ACT Email open and Microsoft Outlook is closed, it won't receive when I hit the "send/receive" button. It only receives when Microsoft Outlook is open at the same time and I click on the "send/receive" button in Microsoft Outlook.

This poses a major problem because when I receive using Microsoft Outlook, it won't record the received messages to ACT contacts. I have to manually attach them in ACT E-mail using the "attach to contact" command. When I do it this way it only records the message subject line and not the body. It also records it as a ".IMA" file and shows up in the "results" column as an "E-mail Attachment".

How do I resolve this problem?

1. ACT! doesn't automatically attach received email any way
2. When attaching a received email, it attaches the file, it cannot embed the body text
3. If the IMA file isn't opening, you need to apply Hotfix1 for ACT! 9.

If you're using Outlook and ACT!9, why not switch to usng Outlook as the email client and dump the ACT! email client?

I have been a ACT! die hard fan for well over 10 years now. I recently upgraded to Act 7 using Windows XP. This morning, ACT Internet mail crashed on me and now all the email is gone, folders are gone as well. Is there any way to recover my email?

You "recently upgraded" to a 3 year old product? Why would you do that?

It's not possible to tell why it crashed, or if it's recoverable without more info.

You're also best off creating a new post for this
