I have a mail program that uses mml extension. If I rename using dbf extension I can link in access with no problem. Is their a way to instruct access that mml is a Dbase extension?

Probably not - the MML guy (My MailList?), if it follows .dbf formats, should probably be copied and given the DBF extension. I'd think the file formats for Office Programs to recognize are controlled pretty much by DLL programs from M/S - and I don't think they're smart enough to look at the "type of file" info stored in the registry and see "oh, a MML is a dbase file" - they just look at the extension. So if you can do it by renaming the file, I'd say go with it.
