Good morning all,

Got an x series 345 server with an IBM serveRAID 5i card with an LTO 3 drive attached. Last week I was getting backup \ restore throughput of 1.2 Gb a minute. I've upgraded the firmware to 7.1 ( from 6.1 ) and now the tape errors with "cannot locate header" error. I've been reliably told that a downgrade of the BIOS would help but I can't see how to force this. Does anyone know how to "force flash" an IBM serveRAID 5i adaptor ?

Any sugestions would be gratefully received.

There is a way to do this. I havent tried in a while. If memory serves correctly, you boot the servRAID cdrom which you want to downgreade to and click on the lightning bolt when given the opportunity. This should allow you to force downgrade.
