Hello,

I confess am am not a telco engineer. I am IT that does what is needed on the PBX :(

We have an office that is having issues with the line in to the PBX. the telco say that they have fixed it so I need to now follow the process to disble and enable the lines to check.

we have documents that a kind fellow wrote a while back for our other offices. The documents are specific and differnt for each office and go like this

2. Disable to problem circuit. Before we can attempt to re-establish the circuit we must make sure all parts are in a disabled state. This will allow us to attempt to restart the circuit in a controlled manner. Below we will disable loop 20 and associated items.
2.1. In overlay 60 disable the loop – DISL 20.

********************************************
2.2. Access Overlay 96 and disable the MSDL – DIS MSDL 4 0 1 ALL
*********************************************

2.3. In overlay 96 disable the associated D-Channel (DCH) – DIS DCH 20
2.4. Now stat the DCH in overlay 96 – STAT DCH 20. It should be ‘DOWN’. If not repeat steps 2.2 and 2.3.
2.5. Go to overlay 60 and check the status of the Loop – STAT 20. No channels should be shown, just the Loop header information.
3. Now to enable the Loop
3.1. In overlay 96 enable the MSDL – ENL MSDL 4 0 1
3.2. Now enable the D-Channel – ENL DCH 20.
3.3. Access overlay 60 and wait for a DCH message.
3.4. Enable the Loop – ENLL 20
3.5. When you have seen the OK response check the status of the loop – STAT 20. You should now see all the channels in and IDLE state, some may be BUSY.
3.6. Wait a few minutes to see if the circuit stays stable. Keep checking using STAT 20.

The crucial part that I don't know is the MSDL. How do I identify the address for our MSDL? once I have this I can then do the rest :)

thanks so much in advance :)

I don't think you will need to know the MSDL in this case. You simply want to disable/enable the T1/PRI

In the office that had the trouble (we'll assume it is a small office with one T1/PRI)

LD 60
.STAT

Make a note of "Loop" and its CH 24 (the DCH channel)

LD 96
.DIS DCH x (x= the DCH value in the previous step)

LD 60
.DISL zz (zz= The Loop you found from the STAT command)

.ENLL zz (zz= The Loop you found from the STAT command)

LD 96

.ENL DCH x (x= the DCH value in the previous step)

.STAT DCH - repeat this to watch the status change.

Some of these commands can be found here:

thanks for the info :) most appreciated. I have made myself familiar with your pages before :)

I am siding on the caution and there is a part i don't quite understand. you say to "Make a note of "Loop" and its CH 24 (the DCH channel)"

I'm not sure from my response what the DCH channel is

the output of the first ld 60, stat is
>ld 60

I see, Euro

So, in your case:

Loop is 12
DCH is 12
