I have a solaris 8 box running oracle, and I need to install some new software that needs a unique port. Does anyone know how I can get a list of all the ports numbers that are in use, or reserved?
Thanks, Mike

hi,

/etc/services has all registered ports and what they are used for;
netstat -a shows whats in use.

hope this helps,

Thanks, that's what I needed. /etc/services seems to be the ports set up by solaris, but netstat gives me details of oracle server ports and more. Thanks for your help.

Check out lsof. Not with the OS, but free to download.
