How do I exec a command on a remote box

I want to run a command on a remote server, from within a batch script.My logon id is not root and changes on the remote site.
This does not work ;
rsh remotenode -l uid << EOT
password
command
exit
EOT

It just does nothing.
Any ideas ?

Do you have a .rhosts file on the remote server? man rsh for details of this file. HTH.
