When using windows 98 there is an option under the drives properties to enable dma (it especially helps when its a dvd drive). Is there such an option in windows 2000 and if so where is it?

It is in the device manager under win2K. Right click on my computer and go to Manage. Next go to Device Manager. Then IDE ATA/ATAPI CONTROLLERS and you should be able to choose there. UDMA 66 IS OFF by default in Win2K pro you must enable it for UDMA 66 support. Open Regedit and go to:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96A-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000]
create a new DWORD "EnableUDMA66" and give it a value of 1.

Hope this helps. James Collins

WK2 does in fact, have DMA settings in the same manner as W98, however it is found under the IDE controller, rather than under the drive in Device Manager. Follow the same procedures as W98, except select the IDE drive controller in lieu of the actual drive.

Is that not what I said above? James Collins
