Hi
I'm trying to avoid buying another NIC for my sun ultra machine.
I would like to create a NAT but using only one NIC.
The software I'll be using is SunScreen.

Is it possible to do this.

Basically the setup will be as follows:

sun-->HUB<---ADSL
^
PC's

thx

In the laws of NAT this is not possible. The device that is performing Network Address Translation needs to be apart
of both subnets/networks. Your diagram below only has one network or broadcast domain, that of your ISP. You need to create a private network to be NAT'ed, hence a second NIC.

sun-->HUB<---ADSL
^
PC's

You'll be better off using some old Intel Box running Solaris x86 and IPfilter (for Firewall/NAT) and purchasing a second NIC for $20. What do you think?

StickyBit.

You can also use a LinkSys router/switch like the BEFSR11 or BEFSRU31, that provide NAT/Port forwarding/IPSEC, etc,check linksys web site ( for more details.

Sun --> Linksys <--ADSL
