How do I discover the DB

Iam using Oracle8i on an NT2000server platform. I dont know if am doing this task correctly but, within oem Im going to Navigator-discover node. i enter the name of the DB and it is not found. For the sake of trying it I inserted the name of the hostmachine and it discover my hostname. Now in oem under network is the hostname but no DB. I am doing wrong? HELP!!!

I think the single most likely reason for failing to discover a node is that the Oracle intelligent agent isn't running on the node.
