Hello All,

We need a method on how to disable the display and control of the system's keyboard, so a user can not display or control the system locally. BUT - allow it so that an administrator can display an xterm or X application on there desktop (remotely, by exporting the display).

Thanks to all for your help,

Marblemanda

Power off the server, unplug the keyboard, and power back on. The system will operate normally this way (Headless)via remote access.

Hi Kociant,

That's a good solution - but the systems I'm administering are located throughout the globe. It would be almost impossible for me to visit 20 countries to do that. I'm looking a solution that will allow me to accomplish virtually the same thing, but without having to visit the box physically. . .

Thanks for the response either way.

edit /etc/default/kbd

and uncomment the following line to disable keyboard or serial device

KEYBOARD_ABORT_DISABLE

or command the line

# kbd -a disable
and the reboot
.
