How do I disable smart tags

Hi,

Apparently there is a setting on MSIE 6.0 that allows me to stop smart tags from being displayed on my computer that other webmasters have set up on their sites.

How do I disable smart tags?

I read another article that stated that Microsoft plans to get rid of smart tags... although i'll believe it when i see it.

OK, So after reading your post does that mean that I can't stop any site that uses smart tags from appearing on my browser. I'm going to use that code to stop the smart tags from appearing on any site I make. But I don't want to receive any smart tags that other sites have included.

I've only found info on how to stop them from appearing on you own pages... Can't find anything on blocking them all together. I want to know if there is a way.

Apparently there is, there was another post made a while ago about smart tags, but I can't find it, it says that they only appear if you set them up, and the default setting is set so they DON'T appear.

So if you or anyone else can find that post could you please point me to it.

If anyone is running Office XP, pop in the CD and choose Add/Remove a component (feature).

the Smart Tags are in here also. Put a red X on them.
