The outgoing routing rule is not valid because it cannot find a valid device. The outgoing faxes that use this rule will not be routed. Verify that the targeted device or devices (if routed to a group of devices) is connected and installed correctly, and turned on. If routed to a group, verify that the group is configured correctly. Country/region code: '*' Area code: '*'

Don't need all these bells and whistles, especially when they do not work well.

How do I remove this feature?

Thanks!

Open add remove Programs Click Add/Remove Windows Components to the left of the list of programs to start the Windows Components Wizard. This takes several seconds.
In the Components list, click to unselect the Fax Services check box, and then click Next. Setup uninstalls the fax services.

Are you talking about a clean install of XP (with SP2 included) or are you talking about updating SP1 to SP2?

If you have just updated SP1 to Sp2 was your install of XP an OEM install or a Retail version? If it was an OEM version that came pre-installed see if the manufacturer's web site has any patches relating to installing SP2 and your model of machine.

In either case are there any available Bios updates for your machine.

Have you tried setting your Bios to run with the predetermined safe defaults?
