In Word 97 I can look at an existing table and can determine the width of the columns in the table.

For example: I have a 3X4 table, with each column having a width of 1.66" and space between columns being 0.15". Is there a way to determine the OVERALL width of that table?

I realize that the width of the table would be 1.81 * 4, but I'm looking for a function or something that could give me that number automatically. Is there a way to do it through VBA perhaps? Or is there an option I can use right away that would give me the number?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hope this will be of help in Word '97...

In Word 2000, you can:
1. Place the Table in a Frame
2. Then double-click on the Frame's (gray) border
3. Change width from Auto to Exactly
and it displays the exact width of the table.

For Word 2000 users that may not know, there are many macros built-in for Word commands. For example, to place a table in a frame:
1. Select the entire Table
2. Click Tools - Macro - Macro
3. In the Macros in: window, select Word commands
4. In the Macro name: window, select InsertFrame
5. Click Run
