I have successfully deployed Office 2003 with GPO. Now I want to do a custom installation. I have used the Office 2003 resource kit to create my custom installation and now I have an MST transform file. When I completed the setup of the custom install, the resource kit gave me the following command line to use for the installation:

setup.exe TRANSFORMS="\\servername\custom office setup.MST" /qb-

How exactly do I use that WITH group policy to roll out my custom install? Does the resource kit automatically update the administrative install point so I don't have to use the command line it gave me?

Thanks

You can add the MST file to the GPO of the installation in the Modifications Tab .. unfortunatly, it will require you to add a new software package, and since you will need to remove the current package to add the new one with the tranform file, it will end up reinstalling all previous installations. There are commands you can use directly to the MSIEXEC (Windows Installer) you can pass to add a transform to an installation, but you would need to read up and test it. There is a detailed document on the MSDN site.

Note for next time, make sure you deploy your packages fully modified. GPO's are not the best when it comes to "modifying" previous installations. I found it sometimes easier to remove and simply dump on top of an old installation... or even just remove a previous copy or version and install the newer one... of course, it all depends on the software.. every software is different..
