if you right click the kde menu, one of the options should be menu editor. This program allows you add menus and menu items for programs. I think you can also right click the desktop and create a shortcut using the menu that appears, but I can't remember the specifics. All in all it should be extremely similar to windows if you're familiar with how to do it there.
