Although creating custom functions is fairly easy and straight forward in Crystal 9 & 10 - in Crystal 8 to create a User Defined function - you need to be able to create a dll in Visual Basic or C++ to store the code Crystal needs to create and access a custom function. If you are not a programmer - upgrading to Crystal 9 or 10 is your best bet.
