I am taking a file system backup of a machine with five sql databases on it. I back up the dbs using the NetWorker SQL module separately. However, when I am doing the file system backup I want to create a directive that doesn't back up any open sql files i.e. no *.mdf or *.ldf files.

NetWorker will not back up any open files anyway; it will just report the problem in the savegroup completion report.

If you want to skip the files mentioned, the best method is to create a server directive to "skip" the files in question. For example:

<< "D:\" >>
+skip: *.mdf
+skip: *.ldf

Once the directive is created, modify the client resource that backs up the refular file system and select your newly created directive in the directive field.

Look at the Admin guide for further examples.
