How do I create a ReportNet Group Summary Report

Hi,

Im very new to ReportNet, and I need help with a report that i've created.

So far I have my report looking as follows....
Notes:
[ol]
[li]The data is grouped by year[/li]
[li]The data in italics is the group summary data[/li]
[li]Im doing a count on the ID column[/li]
[li]Im doing a total on the amount column[/li]
[/ol]

Year ID Amount
1998 1 100
1998 2 120
1998 2 220

1999 3 500
1999 7 50
1999 9 50
1999 11 10
1999 4 610

2000 88 220
2000 1 220

2001 91 110
2001 92 120
2001 2 230


What im trying to achieve is just a summary report, containing the total rows only, like the following:

Year ID Amount
1998 2 220
1999 4 610
2000 1 220
2001 2 230


In impromptu, I would have grouped the data by year, created the calculations (ie. the total and the count), then dragged them to create a new column for each, then deleted the original columns containing the detail, but in reportnet (either query studio or report studio), I cant get the detail to be removed without losing the calculated summaries.

What am I missing???!!!

In Report Studio, change the aggregation type of the year column to total instead of noe, this should do it. You will have to leave the page view and go to the query view.

Thanks for the tip, I didnt quite get a chance to use it. I went back into reportnet this morning, and accidentally clicked on the report to run it (instead of edit in report studio), and you wanna know something weird(well, its weird to me...)....It worked.

If I open the report in report studio, and click the run button (as HTML) it doesnt quite work (i get one row for 1998, multiple rows for 1999) split over multiple pages, but if I go back to cognos connection and run the report from there by clicking on it (run as PDF), it works perfectly....

Strange.
