How do I create a numeric field from a text field....?? 1

Hello All,
I have a question about breaking a number out of a text string and then running a sum of that number. I know how to break out the numeric data, but I'm uncertain how to run a calc on it as it is still in a datatype of text. Can you help?

Try CInt() or CDbl() functions to convert that value to the type of numeric you need, then you can do math.

Search on cint in Access Help files for details on how to use these functions.
