I have developed a very simple database to log in questions and hyperlink to the documents that contain the answers. Very Simple, however, in order to make this database worth using, it has to have a keyword search function. The keyword search is important because users will log their questions in their own format (obviously), and users must be able to search within this field for any keyword in the question.

OH, but I can't figure out how to do this, and once I am able to do this, how will it output? If anyone has any experience with this, I would greatly appreciate any feedback. Thanks!!!

Big bang approach: Get a copy of a product called ISys, which is a "free text retrieval" tool, which can interface with Access and a whole lot of other formats, eg. Word, Notes etc. Brilliant tool, worth knowing about. Indexes everything (almost), and lets you inquire on your data every which way.

More moderate approach:
Create a table called tblKeywordDocument. This table will contain two fields; ie. Keyword and Document. Create a subform, and include this on your Document data entry form, using the Document field on both as the parent/child link. This then becomes your vehicle for data entry of the keywords associated with any document.

You will then need to provide an additional capability, to filter the Document recordset to retrieve only those documents with matching keywords.

Get this bit working first, then perhaps we can look at that.

Hope this sets you on the right path,
Cheers,
Steve
