I have seen fla's where there only one frame in the time line. Basically layers 1,2 and 3 will all have just one frame (keyframe) in it, but all the informaiton is in there. Basically I believe these are MC on the main time line. Right?
When I create a symbol as a MC, Then drag it on the stage it won't work unless I drag the frames out to the same length as my actual MC. So how are these people able to have all that info on 1 frame?? Are they loading unloading movies? I don't think so... Please help...
Thanks

If you create a movie clip type symbol, animate it and put it on the main timeline - it should play; regardless of the number of frames in the main movie.

Try this:

- Create a new file in Flash.
- Draw a square on the main page facing you.
- Select the square.
- Hit F8, or go to convert to symbol.
- Give it a name, like 'square', and select the 'movie clip' radio button.
- Right click on the sqaure.
- Select edit.
- Now you are editing the 'square' movie clip; so do a bit of animation (either create a tween or add a few key frames and move the square around a bit.).
- Press enter and watch the lovely animation play.
- Click on the tab that says 'Scene 1' at the top of the page (above where the time lines are); this should take you back to the main page).
- Finally then, press Ctrl-Enter or Control/Test Movie from the menu.
- With any luck you should see the 'square' movie clip mocing round; even though it is only in one frame on the main timeline.

Sorry if you know enough detail of Flash for the above to sound patronizing; but I just thought I would be as detailed as I could for you. =)

p.s. If you don't know much about flash then after this works (!!!) try this: press Ctrl-L (or window/Library) and then drag the square from the library to the main time line; you now see two squares moving when you run the animation - marvelous, eh?
p.p.s. If you do know some detail of Flash the P.S. is probably more partonizing than the first bit; sorry.

I did a test in a brand new movie. Went to File>New and then created a MC with some tweens. Dragged it on the stage at the main timeline, and it worked. BUT when I added some graphics tweening on the main timeline it didn't work?

I can send the little test I did to show you if you give me your email.

On layer one is a MC in frame 1. Layer 2 has a MC in frame 30. And laer 3 has a grpahic animation frames 1 through 29. but the only thing that works it the graphic animation?
Thanks

Just make movie clips for everything and just drag them on their own layers on the 1 frame main timeline, as you did in your first test.

;-)

i cant explain it..i had that problem before as well..was all in mc's but they wouldn't work..but know when i do it everything works fine all the time..was just that one case were i could not get it to work..sometimes i think flash likes to play games with ya..has it's own mind so to speak..

virt2001: Agree with the bit about 'mind of it's own' (until you realise you had left 'snap to guides on' but turned the guides off (oops)...)

btw, keano, if you haven't got it sorted and still want to send that movie, my email is: petitpal@yahoo.com
