I am a beginner with Access and I am learning by trying to write an application for our running club. What I can't figure out, is how to show a person's category on a report. As an example, a female runner who is 43 years old would be an F40, a male runner who is 56 years old would be a M55.
I can generate the reports that show the different groups in a race, but I would like to be able to show a category such as F45 or M60 on a listing of members. Any clues would be highly appreciated.

Thanks
Tony

In report design view, look at sorting and grouping, under teh View menu. Group on your runners age and then Sex, or Sex then Age, if you want all females before males.

Click on the Age group line and in the bottom half of the Sorting and Grouping box, change GroupOn to Interval and change GroupInterval to 5.

Then in the report design, create a header field in the inner of the two groupings which is the combination of Sex and Age.

This is hard to explain in words. Why don't you try what I have written and then post again with any problems? Good luck.

Kathryn
