I have tried everything I know to do, but nothing works. I had to re-load the scanning software last week and when I did, my ability to convert the files disappeared. I am stumped.

I am not sure if I misunderstood the question, but if you are trying to convert what is essentially a picture into text, you will need OCR software like Omnipage. That is optical character recognition. But I have a feeling I have misunderstood your meaning.

OIC you had it before. You probably didn't re-install the part of the software that handles the OCR. Just look through the installation disks for whichever CD looks like it is the OCR software.

If you want the actual graphical image, it looks like Word can import a TIF very easily using Insert Picture From-File.

Check to see if you can open the file using MSPaint. If you cannot, then you either have a problem with your scanner or the file was saved by the scanner deep in some obscure directory.
