I have a 9620c that was converted to SIP (not by me,) and the customer would like to use it as a regular extension now. How do I convert it back to H.323?

There is no Call Server item in the address menu, and displays No Call Server during boot. Every time the phone boots up, it is in SIP mode, I have cleared, reset, and changed it to H.323 (in SIG,) and it only wipes out the SIP server settings, but everything else (Addr., SIG Mode, Group) all remain...

It doesn't look like it is trying to check for updates/settings files from HTTP server during boot.

Any help greatly appreciated!

It should try to get a 96xxSupgrade.txt file. Copy the 96xxHupgrade.txt and replace the H with S.

@derfloh - 9620C uses 96xxupgrade.txt for both H.323 and SIP. The file has sections for both protocols.

In the phones local admin you must change the SIG parameter first(if set there) or set the parameter in the DHCP scope or in the 46xxxsettings file. The local setting takes precedence above the DHCP or 46xxxsettings.txt. So first check on the phone itself.

Read the 96xx Administrator docs:
Changing the Signaling Protocol
For enterprises requiring both H.323- and SIP-based protocols, there are two ways to specify the protocol to be used by all or specific deskphones:
1. As of Release 6.0, the SIG parameter can be set in DHCP Option 242 (Site-Specific Option Number) or in the 46xxsettings.txt file. This setting will apply to all telephones except those for which SIG has been manually configured to a value of H.323 or SIP using the SIG Craft procedure.
2. The SIG parameter can be set on a per-phone basis using the SIG Craft procedure as described in the appropriate Avaya one-X™ Deskphone H.323 Installation and
Maintenance Guide (Document Number 16-300694 for all but Release 6.0; for Release 6.0 covering the 9608, 9611G, 9621G, and 9641G deskphones, see Document Number 16-603603)
