Hey all,

I have a 1320n that I had connected to a computer so I could share it with others on my network. I connected it directly to the network, but how do I set it up as a printer? I can telnet in to the printer, I can use Internet Explorer to see the settings, but I can't figure out how to connect to it using my Win XP and Win 98 workstations. I've checked around on the HP web site but I can't find anything there that tells how to connect to it. Anybody have any ideas??? The original software has "disappeared" from my back room so that's not an option.

Thanks,

Joe Brouillette

Joe, did you solve your problem? I am trying to connect an old HP Laserjet 4M Plus to a small Win2000 network. It was formerly running of the parallel port of one of the PCs, but the new system has the printer connected via its network card. I've pinged the printer's IP address and got a reply, so it's on the network, but I can't see it there when I go to "add printer"...

Jon.

Jon47, if you use the printer software to set it up you'll be able to connect to it without any trouble. If you don't have the CD that came with the printer you can download the software from the HP website. BUT, be advised that it's about a 400MB download.

On another note, there was a response to one of my posts concerning capturing a networked printer to LPT1 that said XP could connect to a printer by just using an IP address. Since Win2k and XP are so similar you might try that first.

Good luck,

Joe
