Hi,
I have a movie on my desktop that I was trying to burn to DVD. I downloaded from a friend and it says that it's a 660mb divx file. But when I open it up in Nero 7 it says that it's going to take up 4.37 of 4.38gbs of the DVD. Well, when Nero transcodes it, it says there's not enough room on The DVD to hold it.

Is there a way that I can Compress the file to where it will still be of good quality and yet fit on the DVD? I have Nero 7, the full version. If that doesn't do it, is there any freeware out there that will, or maybe a trial that I could experiment with that doesn't leave a huge watermark in the middle of the screen?

Thanks,
Chris

P.S. I hope this is the correct forum to post this? I searched for awhile and this seemed appropriate. Thanks again!

I don't work with Nero (I use Roxio), however, you should be able to set the compression, or do a "fit to disc".... I know Roxio can, I can't imagine Nero lagging behind in that...

1.) under NERO use NERO VISION
2.) Choose MAKE DVD then DVD VIDEO
3.) Import the File you want to burn...
4.) once imported, continue until the screen where you burn, there choose the VIDEO OPTIONS (maybe hidden under the MORE button at the bottom)...
5.) under the TAB DVD VIDEO make sure that the option 'Automatic (fit to disc)' is checked...

6.) burn the MOVIE... it should work, it always has for me...

PS: under OPTIONS at the BOTTOM, you may have to set another TEMP folder for NERO, if the C: drive (default) has less than 5GB of space for the transcoding, choose a partition (make a folder there named NEROTMP (ie.)) with enough space, ie. more than 5GB (the more the merrier)...
